SUSTAINABILITY OF THEATRE
Through the process of building the National Theatre Festival as a property known as “Jairangam”, we realised that it is nothing, but a deal of responsibility towards this medium of expression, to keep the festival live and sustainable in most contemporary and natural way.
Our objective is to create a common platform to find different narratives , issues, idioms , language and so on for the benefit as a whole.
Any art form is the medium of expression and it is believed that theatre is strongest medium of individual and social expression.
This year Jairangam is coming with its 8th edition! Through this span of journey we realise that it is important to find ways to make it self sustainable with the help of friends who believe in power of expression as a tool to bring change !
WHY CROWDFUNDING?
You would agree that theatre in developing countries like ours has always tried to address social and political issues at micro and macro level despite lack of support and resources.
Through consistent working on the line, “Jairangam” has been able to generate and add entirely new set of audience by bringing best of the theatre for them to watch, appreciate and connect!
Having got connected with people who are involved in core theatrical activities, always inspired and taught us that meaningful working is never dependent on resources . It is “passion” which marks the difference!
We look at individuals to support the movement by creating a community of theatre lovers called “Friends of Jairangam” aka FOJ
FOJs own the festival with the gesture of friendship. Various categories provide opportunity and responsibility to participate and contribute as a friend.
Our objective is to create a “Theatrical art” society comprised of friends who believe in idea of expression as a tool for change!
We believe in relationship and earnestly wish to extend and expand on personal relations to build internal self support for the festival to survive forever.
